Madison Game Calls deer grunt calls are nationally recognized award-winning calls handmade by Rodd Madison of Minnesota. The call ‘as-is’ sounds like a mature buck, which you can use solely as that sound, but it can also be easily adjusted from a mature buck to a doe bleat if you’d like other sound options, as it houses an adjustable o-ring on the tone board. You just remove the insert from the barrel to access the tone board and move the o-ring up to the top two notches for a buck grunt or down to the last notch for a doe bleat. This is a very easy call to use and has produced many trophy class bucks since 2008.

Before Rodd’s calls, I felt like I wasn’t good at calling bucks. I was using the “popular,” “regular” calls from big box stores, and I didn’t even like the sound myself – let alone what bucks would think of it, so I did not have much confidence. Eyad H. Yehyawi of Iowa is the author of “Crimson Arrows.” He has been bowhunting for nearly thirty years, traveling across the United States, Canada and Africa. Growing up in southeast Iowa, he gained an appreciation and respect for the outdoors at an early age. A naturalist long before he was a bowhunter, Eyad’s passion for the outdoors dates as far back as he can remember. Whether it was fishing in farm ponds or exploring local woodlots – he always found his way into the fields and forests. Coming from a family with no outdoor experience – his trials and tribulations paved the road toward future successes with a great appreciation for the journey. Jessica has also been a licensed cosmetologist in the state of Alabama since 2005 and has much experience with professional, salon formula shampoos and conditioners. She knows most products in the outdoor industry that are made for hunters and huntresses, always left her hair dry and brittle. In her professional experience, she knows how much ladies spend at the salon for hair color treatments, and believes the huntress should not settle for hunting products that are not designed to protect your color-treated hair. This was all the motivation she needed to design a new product for hunters that conditions and moisturizes your hair and skin, like top-selling, name-brand salon products.
Editor’s Note: I love this scentless lotion for deer hunting, but don’t limit yourself to that! I use this scentless lotion year-round! It’s especially great for wintertime as during ice fishing season, I don’t want a scented lotion for my hands, but I desperately need lotion! I also use it specifically for turkey hunting. While turkeys aren’t affected by scent, I’m wearing the same camo I wear during deer season, so I do not want to expose any of my gear with a smelly lotion. And get this – I use it on my dog! I have tried several different products to help keep burrs and stickers off my dog while hunting, and THIS is what works the best!!! Before hunting, I rub it between my hands and then run my hands over him to lightly layer it on his fur and tips of his hair. Our deodorant is made from ingredients that are as close to nature as possible. We start off with a blend of cocoa butter, beeswax and olive oil. Magnesium hydroxide and zinc ricineolate are our main odor preventers. Arrowroot powder, colloidal oatmeal and tapioca starch really help absorb wetness. - Polyquaternium 7,70 & 80: Polyquats are “green” and derived from renewable resources. They are hygroscopic at all humidities, attracting and binding water effectively and providing a higher humidity protective gradient to enhance moisturization on both skin and hair, serving to retain moisture.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine & Sodium Cocyl Isethionate: Both are mild foaming and cleansing agents derived from vegetable oils such as Coconut and Palm Kernel.
- Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate: Mild, anionic, vegetable oil (coconut oil) based cleansing agent. It has excellent foaming properties and is used to create gentle, non-striping surfactant systems with dense creamy leather.
